South Africans show they care from 15 May to 15 June
As an annual campaign already four consecutive years in the running, Go Turquoise for the Elderly strives to improve awareness about older persons among members of the public. The goal is to accomplish better safety and respectful treatment of, and love and care for this vulnerably section of our society who are often overlooked or ignored.
From 15 May to 15 June, South Africans are requested to show their support of older persons by wearing a turquoise ribbon or turquoise items of clothing and to decorate their homes, offices and shopping malls with turquoise fabric or other turquoise items.
Communities decide how they want to Go Turquoise for the Elderly and members of the public are invited to organise activities and/or participate in these events which may range from treating the elderly to tea or visits to the older persons living in a community. Turquoise bags can be filled with toiletries or snacks and distributed among older persons in a community. Turquoise bags and ribbons can be ordered from firstname.lastname@example.org.
Members of the public and organisations that want to participate in the campaign are invited to visit the website at www.goturquoise.co.za for more information or to send an email to email@example.com.
